I thought pushing through burnout was the only way to succeed.
Instead, it nearly broke me.
The harder I worked, the more I ignored my body and mind. Stress, fatigue, and a constant sense of emptiness became my normal. I saw people around me getting sick from the same grind, some even hospitalized, and it hit me: if I didn’t change, I was headed down the same path.
That was the moment I finally checked in with myself. I stopped silencing the exhaustion and started asking what my energy actually needed. The answer wasn’t “push harder.” It was pause, breathe, and create space.
For me, that space came through yoga, mindfulness, and meditation. I had done yoga years ago and abandoned it without reason, but coming back to it felt like coming home. Yoga didn’t just stretch my body. It released the stress stored deep in my tissues, helped me process the fatigue I’d been avoiding, and transformed that heaviness into resilience.
Let’s be real – perfection doesn’t exist. I still have days when I feel drained or overwhelmed. But the difference now is that I have a way to channel and transmute that energy instead of letting it drain me. Rather than distracting myself with more work or chasing goals to fill a void, I give myself permission to pause and refill my own cup.
Because the truth is, the pressure wasn’t creating diamonds. It was crushing me.
Once I stepped back, I realized that time and energy aren’t enemies to my goals – they’re allies. Giving myself space to breathe and refine my skills has allowed me to create more meaningful results than forcing myself to keep grinding ever did.
Yoga became one of my lifelines. Mindfulness practices and meditation grounded me in ways I didn’t know I needed. They reminded me that success isn’t about running on empty. It’s about checking in – with my body, my breath, my energy, my spirit – and asking one simple question:
What do I truly need right now to succeed?
