I just had an interview fall through so I have extra time on my hands 🙌🏾 – and it’s honestly a blessing in disguise… So I’m building an app!! It’s been on my mind for some time to build a new social media app that limits some of the “doom scrolling” and allows people to be inspired to express their personal creativity. Essentially, I’m bringing back MySpace (my inspiration for this) in a new way where people can express themselves and also have the ability to curate their own brands and identity on the Internet without feeling bogged down by the feeds watching what everyone else is doing… Think of this as one of the first “personal or professional media platforms” rather than a social media platform, kind of like a blog or business/branding website. I haven’t seen this done yet and thought, “hey, why not do this while learning AI app building?” so here I am.
So, I got my domain name today! 🔥 Gonna announce the name very soon once I build out my landing page. I’ve been watching YouTube videos on vibe coding and using AI to build the app and figured – time to elevate my own skills! So I’m excited to try it myself and document the journey along the way. I’m creating some videos to get started and learn the documentation process – because why not? If this becomes something big, y’all can see the journey and reference how I did it anytime you want, AND I can learn from my mistakes lol win-win
Mind you, I have no software engineering or dev background lol I only worked in cybersecurity and infosec. Anyway, I’m gonna trust the process and just GO FOR IT. You only live once 🔥 – lets vibeee
First step: Ideate and plan
2nd: Ask ChatGPT to verify if idea already exists (maybe it does but idk I’m building it my own way – good news: it doesn’t seem to exist quite like this yet 🔥)
3rd: Come up with name (got AI to help with this – will announce once the landing page with waitlist is up)
4th: Don’t fall into “imposter syndrome”, get shiny object syndrome, or get frustrated when the original cool names are taken – keep the momentum!
5th: Find domain name (Got it! And will announce soon)
6th: Lock in domain name (got a discount and it only cost me 6.67 with 2 months free email 🔥 – will be around $1 per month for the email after this)
Next steps (in progress): Setup landing page with the waitlist to validate my idea and setup social media + blog posts for updates. Also, define the niche – which I’ll test as my first MVP – and in my case will be yoga as I build out my own brand + business so I can setup a POC and show people it works and will help them save time, stay focused and inspired while building out of their own content!
